How do I feel when I have asthma - what are my symptoms?

Asthma can make you feel:

  • wheezy (your breath might 'whistle' in and out)

  • short of breath

  • tight in the chest

  • or you might have a cough

You may have one of these symptoms or more than one – everyone is different. Symptoms can happen suddenly as an 'asthma attack', or they may be with you most of the time. Often people with asthma get hay fever or eczema as well.

The good news is that you can control your asthma so that you can go about your life without symptoms.
